Welcome to Desert Willow Golf Resort, a Southern California golf destination where golf is more than just a game. Located in Palm Desert, Desert Willow Golf Resort was voted 4 and 1/2 stars, 'Best Places to Play' by Golf Digest Magazine (May 2000-2007). Desert Willow Golf Resort is among the most picturesque southern California golf venue sites offering incredible views of the surrounding Santa Rosa Mountains. Desert Willow features two championship golf courses: Firecliff and Mountain View.

Opened in 1997, Firecliff was named for the supper club owned by early Palm Desert residents, Leonard Firestone and Clifford Henderson. It opened with great fanfare when President Gerald Ford attended the grand opening tournament. Measuring 7,056 yards, Firecliff is a true test of skill where golfers must negotiate their way around extensive natural areas, over 100 bunkers and

numerous water features. Golf Digest named the Firecliff course, one of the "Places To Play." This tournament tested layout is one of only three courses in California and one of the best 50 in the United Sates to receive this distinction in terms of conditioning.

Mountain View, the most recent course to be designed at Desert Willow, provides unmatched scenery and views while allowing for a less demanding golf game. One of the more resort type southern California golf courses, it was designed to be a little more user friendly from the teeing area with wider fairways and limited desert waste areas. But don’t be deceived, Mountain View, measuring 6,913 yards is rated just slightly less difficult than Firecliff. With more forgiving fairways, 98 well-placed bunkers, sloping greens, and seven water features, Mountain View still requires the best from golfers of all levels.

It took the City of Palm Desert to truly bring public golf to a place of prominence. Desert Willow has been voted #1 for the 3rd year in a row by Desert Golf Magazine as the Best Public Access Course and The Best in the Valley and Best Public Course by Desert Sun (2003-2006) and Palm Springs Life 2006. Desert Willow Golf Resort began with a plan that embraced the desert landscape and respected the fragility of natural resources necessary to maintain the course. With the design team of Dr. Michael Hurdzan, ASGCA (winner of the 2002 Donald A. Rossi Award by the Golf Course Builders Association of America and Golf World Magazine’s 1997 "Architect of the Year”), Dana Fry, and, then desert resident and PGA Tour Professional, John Cook, it was solidified that Desert Willow

was going to be special. With Eric Johnson, a local landscape architect, they thoughtfully developed a plant palette that would make Desert Willow environmentally sensitive, unique, and picturesque, while integrating this with an exceptional golf course design.

featured by the Smithsonian Institute Magazine for its environmentally sound design and construction. Desert Willow has hosted several tournaments including the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Classic and The Prestige at Palm Desert, an official NCAA event consisting of the top sixteen universities.

Guests are treated to an incredible southern California golf courses experience with a magnificent clubhouse, personalized service, and spectacular views. The 2,000 square foot Golf Shop provides the latest in golf apparel, golf shoes and golf clubs. The golf shop is dedicated to offering all the latest fashion trends and styles like Jamie Saddock and Tommy Bahamas, Tehama, Byron Nelson and Tommy Bahama. Callaway X-20 Irons with Big Bertha Drivers are available if you would rather rent clubs instead of traveling with your own.

Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa

Located on over 450 acres of lush grounds and lakes in the heart of California's Coachella Valley and framed by three majestic mountain ranges, Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa is a four-star, four-diamond property that opened in February 1987. Already a luxurious oasis in one of the world’s premier desert destinations, Desert Springs just completed a $30 million renovation in July, 2007 that transformed the property’s public areas into a stylish haven for socializing, fine dining, and relaxation. The makeover has brought a new energy to the property while preserving its striking mountain views and enhancing signature elements like its popular gondola rides.

 

Guests arrive at the resort through its impressive new porte-cochere featuring dramatic water features that spill into reflecting pools of Italian mosaic glass tile. Grand stone columns topped by a Brazilian teak wood ceiling frame these features. Inside, the renovated 30,000 square foot atrium has become the new activity hub for guests and locals alike. In the center of the lobby is the 60-foot Lobby Bar marked by a glass mosaic water wall in muted reds and browns. Behind the bar, water flows over another wall made of textured glass. The lobby also boasts Palm Springs' newest sushi bar and a makeover of the on-site Starbucks with picturesque outdoor seating.

From the moment guests enter the resort’s breathtaking atrium lobby, they begin a journey into a world of relaxed elegance, singular amenities, and exemplary service.
The resort’s famous Venetian-like waterways literally begin in the lobby. Gondolas wait to transport guests to dinner and on afternoon tours. No matter where the destination--an afternoon tour of the impressive grounds, or an evening of dining and dancing at one the resort’s many restaurants and night clubs--it’s easy to fall under the spell of this resort, as the gondola drifts past cascading waterfalls and the calls of exotic birds fill the air.

Desert Springs Resort & Spa’s 884 deluxe guest rooms and suites are located in five-to-eight-story wings surrounding swimming pools, lakes, lush English gardens, and manicured lawns. Each elegantly appointed guestroom is spacious and features luxury “Revive” crisp white bedding and CD players to ease you to sleep. Bathrooms with separate tub and shower feature granite, limestone and Italian marble. Rooms also offer high speed internet access, a fully stocked refreshment center and private balconies. The resort’s superb recreation facilities include: 20 tennis courts: 15 hard courts (six lighted), 3 clay and 2 grass courts; a day spa featuring a gym, exercise classes and a Spa Shop; the Oasis Pool area which includes three swimming pools; basketball courts; lawn croquet; biking; restaurants and lounges; and more.

The Spa at Desert Springs also underwent a renovation and now offers decadent suites with private showers, fireplaces, and outdoor whirlpools for the utmost in personal luxury. All 47 treatment rooms feature the latest in spa technology, while the highly skilled and trained technicians focus on indigenous healing treatments. The 38,000 square-foot spa offers a wide range of treatments including Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone massage, body scrubs and wraps, facials, hair services, manicure and pedicures. The Spa’s dressing area includes a dry sauna, wet steam room, and aromatic hamman steam chamber. The on-site fitness facility offers a full range of fitness classes and personal training sessions. The facility has 22 state-of-the-art Body Master stations, variable resistance weight training stations, treadmills, life cycles, Stairmasters, free

weights and an elliptical trainer. Walking and jogging paths are also available for optimal cardiovascular workouts.

Dining at The Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa can be casual or elegant since the resort offers many tantalizing dining choices. For a gourmet, Northern Italian experience, Ristorante Tuscany offers traditional Tuscan cuisine. This highly acclaimed restaurant has received numerous awards for its cuisine, wine and design and features a selection of antipasto, soups, salads, pasta and fish, as well as homemade desserts. Mikado Japanese Steak House is perfect for those that enjoy Japanese Teppan-yaki and live entertainment. Amidst a soothing decor of Japanese gardens and running streams, dinner guests can choose from an assortment of fresh seafood, steak, and chicken entrées.

The highlight of the meal is the dazzling talent of the chef as he expertly chops, juggles, jokes, and prepares an incredible meal right before your eyes. Guests can enjoy lighter fare, including the finest freshly prepared Japanese delicacies and specialty drinks at the new Sushi Bar. SeaGrille Restaurant, specializes in fresh seafood and great steaks in a sophisticated yet intimate setting. For casual dining at its best, guests can seek refuge at LakeView, which offers All-American comfort food like meatloaf, rotisserie chicken and slow roasted baby ribs.
